Mary Jane noticed the look Clark had given her. She knew why, but she wasn't entirely sure what to say about it. It was true that taking on a job that took place mostly at night wasn't the smartest thing in the world to do, but it was all she had. It would give her some other kind of purpose, and maybe it would do some good to make people happy and cheer them up a bit. And, at the very least, she would make some money, too.
"I'll be alright," she told him with a nod of confirmation, not having to say much else about it.
A smile crossed over her features, one that was genuine and appreciative at the same time. "Well, thank you. But what about you, what were you doing before you got here?"
