Speaking of things in the dark. Claire blinked at the man who stepped closer to her as she turned. She had seen him – or rather, someone – there but intended to keep to the best-lit part of the sidewalks on her way back along the right way home. She couldn't help but stare at him instead of keeping along her path, as he was gorgeous. Not just in a clothing model way, but in a way that was more than a bit too perfect. And he knew her – or, must know the younger Claire, at least.
She felt slightly unnerved, but attributed that to the fact he'd been lingering in the shadows. Lingering in the shadows was no way to make friends, even if the sidewalk was far from deserted. It was only now sunset, people were still making their way indoors to apartments or stores in order to avoid the things that came out as night pressed on.
"Oh, I'm not- I mean, I am, but I'm-" She promptly closed her mouth to stem the flow of nonsense tumbling from her.
