"I didn't say I liked him," she objected, perhaps a little too vehemently. There was a brief pause before she sighed softly, the sharpness of her tone fading away.
"I haven't talked to Aang all that much, remember?" she reminded the other girl. "But you know how he is. Aang is one of the most forgiving, understanding people I know. If Zuko says he's changed and seems to have really changed, Aang will give him a chance. Besides, if he's teaching Aang firebending, it's not like he can refuse him. It's the only element he hasn't learned, yet."
Katara hesitated for the briefest of moments before admitting, albeit a little grudgingly, "And Zuko does seem to have changed. He's still infuriating, stubborn, and a hot-head, but he's been helping people." She bit her lip, glancing back toward the ground and absently fiddling with some of her hair.
"He even saved my life." That was a hard thing to say to someone else. Not a blow to her pride - Katara didn't allow her pride to rule her as much as others might - but just so strange to say out loud. Zuko had saved her life, and he'd done it without any hesitation at all.
"Come on," she said suddenly, looking back to Toph with a forced smile. "We can talk while we walk. You might as well get a feel for this city before it gets too dark and we need to get inside."
