Leading Toph out of the sand and to the paved road that led away from the beach, Katara did her best to explain just how different this world was compared to theirs. "They've never even heard of bending," she admitted, the giddiness in her tone abating somewhat as she remembered just how frightening that concept had been when she'd first arrived here. To be the only waterbender in the Southern Water Tribe was one thing. To be the only waterbender period... that was something else entirely.
"They use cars to get around, which are run by some means that I can't seem to figure out. They're dangerous, though, if you get in the way of one. They..." Katara stopped, sighing softly, her voice losing its enthusiasm and some of her previous pain, fear, and worry shining through for the briefest of moments. "It's just really different. I kept hoping Aang and I would find some way back, but he seems to be pretty content here and I don't even know how to start looking on my own."
Hesitating for a second, not going any further as they were heading back into the main part of the city and Katara wasn't quite ready to show Toph all of that, yet, she instead studied the girl for a moment before smiling once more. "How's Sokka doing? Not getting into too much trouble, I hope?" she asked curiously. Maybe talking about her brother would help. Maybe... maybe hearing that he was alright would ease some of the worry she'd been feeling.
