"Hmm?" Lindsey murmured distractedly before getting her comment and quirking a small smile. "Put it on my tab," he replied offhandedly, twirling the stake between his fingers and returning it to his back pocket.
He shot a dark look at Logan. "She's an independent contractor who happened to be in the same place at the same time as the two of us," he replied easily and took a few steps back to lean up against a tall gravestone nearby, casual and relaxed.
What Lindsey wanted to do was promise he wouldn't interfere, not unless instructed. But he also knew the Senior Partners had a way of finding things out and that would mean he would eventually find himself in deep shit with his noncoporeal bosses. Not that he didn't nearly find his way there often enough.
"Good luck with that," was his final reply, hoping he sounded neutral enough.
