During his conversation with Lindsay he'd caught a new scent, not human, not by a long shot. But yet, not threatening either. For a moment he let his eyes cast aside to look at whom was joining them. His brow raised as he saw the slight form all in black.
A halo of sadness hung around her and he wondered what could possibly make her so forlorn. But then again, who's to say she wouldn't wonder the same about him. He noticed where she stopped and his curiosity grew. Whom had she lost.
Death, it was elusive for him. It hurt to know everyone he loved, held near to his heart would be gone one day, to leave him behind. Marie would by far be the most painful, just because they shared something he never could with another person. Marie knew his soul, saw into it intimately. Forever she would carry a part of him. That was a bond that was the hardest to break.
But this woman, she looked so lonely, lost. After living a life of a wanderer he couldn't imagine going back to it when he'd found a family. It was unfathomable. So he just stood there, tearing his attention between her and Lindsay.
