"Can't be tough all the time." She looked up at him. "Do you know how many times I wanted to just say fuck it and break down but never did." She was what held them together, made sure they were always safe. "Couldn't let that happen around you. You counted on me too much, felt selfish of me to destroy that."
But now, it all came crashing down on her. Those feelings of when she thought he was dead, that she'd never see him again crept up on her and she looked into his eyes, her own filled with unshed tears. "I felt so lost without you. Missed you more than I ever thought possible. As painful as dads death was for me, thinking you were.." She swallowed the tightness in her throat and shook her head. "I fell apart." Poor Booth, he'd had to deal with it. She owed him.
