After meeting Drake, well, after he just sorta walked in, and after learning from Lindsey that there are plenty of paranormal things in the city to keep her rather busy, Selene is a little paranoid. She would like some sort of protection for her home. Something to make the walls of her home a sanctuary of sorts. I guess she just doesn’t want anyone to be able to spy on her at home or bust the door down and beat the tar out of anyone. Mainly herself as she is there alone for the time being.
Selene was unsure of what she had really gotten herself into with Wolfram and Hart. Details would come later. She was not terribly concerned. There was no loyalty there, just a job, a way to ensure what money she does have will not run out. Because the car had certainly taken a chunk out of her trust. Inflation was ridiculous.
However the shining beacon of power was well worth the hefty price tag. The car dealership Lindsey had directed Selene to had taken care of everything. All they were concerned with was getting paid it would seem. For the time being the car still had the temporary tags, she was told that the rest of the documentation would be taken car of. She was certain she would hear something from the law office concerning that detail.
Pulling into the driveway that ran along the south side of the church Selene got out. In her arms she held a massive stack of books. Likely they would tell her nothing but still she was curious. Her own culture, the one she grew up with so very long ago, was not based in Christianity but their own folklore. Which revolved around mythology and what some might consider witchcraft. She did hope to learn something about this city and its supernatural inhabitants from one of these books.
Her real hope was to possibly find a way to keep anything like what happened in ‘Pest from happening here to her new home. Selene had seen enough destruction to last a life time…well….her lifetime. She wanted this church, this place she was calling home, to be safe.
Sitting in the center of the massive open room, that once held rows upon rows of wooden pews, she was surrounded by books. The empty wood floor was warm from the rays of dim sunlight falling through the high archways. Next to her sat a bottle of wine she had found in the cellar. The half filled glass made the perfect place for her hand. A single finger rolled around the lip of the glass creating a low humming sound as she absentmindedly fiddled with the crystal.
Her reading stopped for a moment. Looking around the wide open space she sighed. It was such a large space. Empty. She should have picked up some furniture catalogs while out and about. A few large chairs and couches….lighting…something to distract from the stage that was once a pulpit. Taking another long drink from the glass beside her she left her thoughts of furniture and went back to reading some obscure index on demonology.
