Gabriel was torn as a lot of things shifted through his mind. On a purely intellectual level, her ability was fascinating as a non-discriminatory self defense mechanism that reacted based on extreme emotions related to dangerous situations. It was one of those things that never would have crossed his mind for someone to have developed. But on a practical level, it was horrifying. Not on for the safety of everyone in the room, but even more so for Maya. He couldn't even think what it was like to have to deal with something like that on a daily basis, to know that if you weren't able to reign in your emotions that you could likely kill someone.
"I'm sorry," Gabriel said quietly as he looked over at Maya. "I'm sorry for what he did to you, what he put you through. If I could change what happened, I would. But all I can offer is the assurance that I am not the man that you knew despite the identical features and name and try and atone for the things that he, that I, did to you," He said quietly, dropping his gaze to his cup with a pause before continuing. "And before any of the rest of you say anything about that, I know that we're different people, but as much as I'm not him, he is me. Or at least was at some point. I can't help but feel responsible."
