Gabriel heard the knock on the doors into the lobby, and it took all of the restraint that he had not to jump and end up spilling his coffee all over the computer's keyboard. Nervously, Gabriel settled the cup down on the front desk and offering the small gathering of company in the lobby a thankful smile before moving to the entrance and pulling back the door for her.
He made a clear effort not to look her in the eyes. He didn't want to seem to be coming on too strong or being too forceful, and he figured she was pretty much already on edge as it was. Glancing back into the lobby, Gabriel turned back to her, lifting his eyes slightly to offer her a sheepish smile, "Welcome to the Hyperion," He said, nerves clear in his tone as he turned back to the small gathering of friends, thankful for their presence. He knew he probably would have been a complete wreck if they hadn't been here. "Like I promised, we're not alone."
