In spite of herself, Gracie laughed at that. "Hey, if it's the one pride they get to have in their life, let 'em," she snorted.
Again, she listened to Booth as he spoke, scrutinizing every detail of his mannerisms and even lowering her glasses to the bridge of her nose. Since he had a fair point on the 'boogeyman' comment, she decided to give him the benefit of the doubt.
And, if he tried anything funny later--pulled out a hidden camera or something-- she decided very quickly that she'd lie and say that she was only playing along.
"So you think that this place we're in is some kind of alternate-reality version of Los Angeles?" she restated flatly, swallowing hard. "It's--uh, this is--...Kinda hate to say it, but it makes sense."
There was no way that the media, let alone the government, would have failed to alert the world that disaster had befallen one of the U.S.'s major cities, as it so obviously had.
