WHO: Annie Wheaton and OPEN TO ANY/ALL WHAT: Exploring the 'forbidden' third floor of the Hyperion Hotel. WHEN: Early morning (not long after sunrise) RATING: TBD STATUS: In Progress
Having woken long before most of the other inhabitants within the hotel, Annie had decided to do a bit of exploring. Sister wasn't there to tell her no, anymore, and hardly anyone else really bothered with her, so she saw no reason to inform anyone of her decision. She simply got dressed and, with Bunny tucked tightly in the crook of her arm, padded silently out of her room, across the hallway, and to the sealed off stairs that led to the forbidden third floor of the Hyperion Hotel. It was the only place that made any sense to explore, really, since she'd already seen most every other nook and cranny of the building during the course of her stay.
The floor hadn't always been forbidden, of course. It had only been made that way when Davy Jones had ordered the snakes to attack and Katara, in an effort to stop the flow of venomous creatures, had sealed the stairwell with a five foot thick block of ice. The ice had, of course, long since been replaced with a thick, heavily chained, steel door that should have kept most anyone out, and at least warned those it didn't keep out that they shouldn't open it.
Annie, however, didn't have any real understanding of the potential dangers that lurked beyond the obstacle. All she knew was that it was in her way, and she wanted to go to the third floor and see what sorts of things were up there. So she simply placed her palm against the cool, metallic surface and pressed outward with her mind.
The door crumbled as though it was made of tissue paper, bending inward on itself before swinging open a few inches. Without further adieu, and a quick pat on Bunny's head, the girl stepped through the crack provided and made her way silently up the darkened stairwell without even paying a passing glance at the frozen bodies of the snakes that littered her path.
