Cassie really wasn't a big believer in faith, especially the religious kind. The way she saw it if God did exist he had a pretty sick sense of human considering the things she and her friends had been through.
"I have more warning though this time," she replied, if he'd shown up from the same time as she knew about the ehadaches she wouldn't have had any hope at all, but hadn't. He'd arrived from months before then.
"My friend Tony got hit by a bus a couple of years ago and that changed him completely," Cassie told her, when she mentioned Gabriel being so different, "different thing entirely I know, and I'm not saying you should like make friends with him as he is now or whatever but..." she shrugged, "things change people that's all."
"Sorry," she whispered, getting the sense she'd upset Maya which she really didn't want to do. She just thought perhaps if Maya could use this power in helpful ways she'd feel a little better about herself. "I get it, any use of this thing wuld be really bad right?"
"So," she said straightening up from the hug, "where are you from? That's not really your standard American accent yeah?"
