Cassie didn't really have many friends either, but she got on pretty well with people once they gave her a chnace, plus Maya seemed nice and like she could probably do with someone here that wasn't connected to her life before she came here. The only other friend Cass had made so far looked exactly like someone from her home town so she didn't suppose that completely counted.
"Oh god I'm sorry, but...he might end up here like Chris did?" she told her hopefully, squeezing her hand gently. It was a little odd really, Cassie guessed she was younger than Maya, but she'd looked after Chris for so long she was getting pretty good at being mature now. "It happens a lot I think, I sort of asked around when I realised just how wierd this place was and it kept me going, the idea that I'd see him again, of course I wasn't really thinking straight because now it's really complicated but at least he's not dead." She nodded in responce to the questions about Chris, "I'm just so scared I'll accidently tell him. I'm like his mother of something, trying to keep him safe and trust me that's really not easy with him and I'm sure he gets that something's wrong, it's just like if he asks me straight out what the hell do I say?"
She hadn't believed in anything like this before she'd got here, but it was impossible to ignore really. Hunter hadn't really shown her anything that amazing but she knew he could tell exactly what she was feeling and that was enough for her.
Cassie didn't flinch or anything like that when Maya told her anbout her power. She wasn't frightened of death for one, and she figured Maya was in control of it. "I'm not sure it's kind of cool or not," she admitted, "the power bit at least, but yeah I figure that must help. I was pretty sure I was going crazy when I first found out about all that," she laughed a little, tossing a $5 bill on the bar when the bartender bought her her drink, "sometimes I think going crazy again'd be easier, but then I meet these realy nice people and I know I like it here better than I ever did back home, how messed up is that?"
