"There's no political or Company agendas here, Nathan," Angela said quietly, squeezing his arm gently. She wanted to just stand and hug him. She wanted to take the tact that she had been using for so long because talking was so dangerous. One word wrong, and this could devolve into screaming again, and she didn't want that to happen, not this time, not again. But she had to press on if she wanted anything between them to be resolved.
"And I'm not going to let anything like what happened with Daniel happen again. I have learned my lesson. And while I may still do or say things that you and Peter find reprehensible because they are what I think needs to be done in order to get things done, I will never put any of you into the position to be exploited like that again."
Looking up at Nathan, Angela moved her hands slowly to cover his, leaning forward and pressing a light kiss to the top of his head, "It might not seem like it, Nathan, but my family has always been put first."
