So she wanted to tell him the truth? Nathan eyed her warily, as the truth hadn't gotten him anywhere good before, but he had agreed to stay and talk. He was in a better place than he had been the last time he'd gotten her brand of truth, so he could make the attempt. And he couldn't afford to get angry enough to start screaming, as Peter would become aware of it. He was doing relatively well with the mental shielding techniques Peter had taught him to give them privacy, but he couldn't guarantee that it would be as effective if he completely lost his temper.
It was only listening. It didn't have to be anything more, and maybe it would lead to an explanation of why she had been coming up to him, hugging him and then walking away before he had a chance to react. He'd begun to be concerned something was wrong with her, after the initial wariness had passed.
He nodded at her. "Talk. I'll listen," he said, moving to a chair to sit down.
