"Lindsey's no mere mortal," Charlie replied easily enough, her loyalty to her boss evident in her tone. She made no move to try to walk in front of him. Again, another general rule of thumb to survive this line of work was to never turn your back on someone if you could help it. It was easier to get stabbed in it, either literally or figuratively, that way.
As they reached the elevator, she pressed the button and waited for the lift to open. While waiting, she glanced sideways at Drake. "Wolfram & Hart doesn't discriminate against any potential client. Whether they be of questionable morality, or in some cases downright villainous, it doesn't matter."
It was the generic answer that they were told to give any 'unique' clients who might ask about the supernatural power that surrounded Wolfram & Hart. Once they were inside the elevator and the doors slid closed, though, Charlie continued with the real answer.
"The firm is mostly a front. The Senior Partners - beings on another plane of existence - created Wolfram & Hart as a way to see their bidding done in this reality since they have no physical means of doing so themselves," she stated. "While we are a legitimate lawfirm in the eyes of the locals here, it's what goes on behind closed doors and out of the public eye that makes that beacon of evil, as you called it."
It was clear from her tone this time, as well, that she wasn't exactly a huge fan of the Senior Partners. Not that she didn't respect them - she did - but she definitely didn't hold them in same regard as she held Lindsey.
