And that was really the last straw. Jareth had been prepared to reason with Sarah, to talk to her even after her words had cut him to the core. He was certain that if she would just listen to him, that she would discover that she was wasting everything by being with this so called knight. He was prepared to do a great many things, but then it all fell apart when he saw her boyfriend cup her cheek, kiss her not once but again and again, and profess his own love of her. Couldn't he see that he wasn't worthy of her, that she was so much above this common human nonsense? Couldn't she see it? He had wanted to convince her, but clearly that was no longer going to work, and he couldn't just leave her here with him...no, something had to be done.
Impulsively, Jareth cleared his throat. "I tried to do this nicely, Sarah, but clearly you aren't willing to do things the way they're supposed to be done. I think it would be best for everyone if you came back with me, to my kingdom, to talk about these things privately...and before you refuse, Sarah, I'd remember one thing. You humans don't have an exclusive right to wish people away, anyone can. Even I can wish someone away to the goblins...and right now I want nothing more than to have you come with me."
