It had only been a couple of hours to just get away - as 'away' as someone could get, with a metal check on a hotel full of people - but it had been too good a time to end like this.
Peter was hanging back a moment, to let Sarah get inside first, but when she turned and screamed, he pushed the door open the rest of the way, stepping into the apartment and in front of her. One hand was raised, lightning crackling on the ends of it.
The lamp light showed him, sitting in the chair, and Peter relaxed his hand. He gave Jareth a look, and turned back to Sarah, reaching for her hands. "It's alright, Sarah. It's only him. Do you have a vase for the flowers?" The bouquet of tiger lillies he'd given her as a thank you for tonight, before knowing that they were her favorites.
