After the delivery of the gifts that she had quickly disposed of, Sarah had doubled the amount of agrimony in her apartment building and tripled the amount in her apartment itself, the agrimony in the building itself tucked into crevices and ledges to be unobtrusive but her apartment doors and windows openly decorated with a wealth of the herb to ward off the Goblin King who hadn't gotten the hint. It was a pleasant apricot-like smell, so she didn't mind it, especially as it meant there would be no uninvited visitors.
Or so she thought.
After the rustle of keys and the click of a lock, Sarah appeared in the apartment, looking down at her feet for the kitten who wasn't there.
"Someone's being lazy tonight," she tossed back over her shoulder and then came inside entirely, dropping her bag on the desk as she toed off her shoes. She didn't get any further into the apartment before the sudden sound of kittenish hissing and a low growl of warning came from her open bedroom door, causing her to turn. Instead of just the kitten, she found her apartment was not as empty as she had previously believed.
She wasn't entirely successful at biting back the scream.
