"We never really named the water, back home," she admitted softly. That still puzzled her a bit. The thought of giving even the water a name. It seemed wrong, somehow.
Tucking a few loose strands of hair behind her ear, she offered him a hesitant smile. "Yes, that's part of it. I'm a waterbender. I can control water, more or less. Make it do things I want it to do. They don't exist here, though." She sighed a little at that, then tried to remember this wasn't the time for her to feel sorry for herself about things she couldn't control.
Almost as an afterthought, she added with that same small smile, "Oh, I'm from the Southern Water Tribe. It's in what's called as the South Pole, here."
Studying him for a moment longer, she asked, "Is that where you're from? The... Caribbean?" It wasn't a place she'd heard about, but maybe he wasn't from another world entirely? Maybe he really was just lost, somehow, and she could help him get back to this Caribbean.
