Cornelius didn't want to be the only one. He wanted his wife to be here too. It didn't make sense for only him to be here. Why shouldn't Zira be here as well? There was no reason for him to be in this strange place alone! And it upset him very much to know that he was one of a kind.
He set the orange down on a plate and began to cut it in half with the fork and knife. Then in half again. And again. Until he had multiple smaller pieces with which he could pick up individually with the fork and bite into. Mmm. Delicious! Oranges. He would have to remember that word. It tasted a little like a fruit he had back home, but it was juicier and more tart. He liked it.
