Well, it wasn't exactly the hotel that had the odor. It was the odor of humans. Which had managed to seep through the cracks in doors and back rooms and waft its way into the lobby and right up Cornelius's nostrils. But he was a Chimpanzee. He had a very distinct sense of smell. Much more heightened than that of a human. She probably didn't notice the odor because she'd been wallowing in it all afternoon.
He winced a little. He was trying his hardest not to lose his breakfast on the floor. Which reminded him that he hadn't eaten in a while. And he was a little hungry.
"Water would be nice. And maybe some fruit? No bananas, please. The taste doesn't suit me."
He set the suitcase down and took a few steps closer to the counter. He was still being wary and cautious, glancing about now and again at every little noise and creak.
"I am Cornelius."
He supposed he should have introduced himself earlier, but he was a little freaked out.
"You wouldn't happen to have seen my wife, have you? Her name is Zira. You can't miss her. She's beautiful."
