Cordelia blinked. And blinked again. Okay, confused had officially reached an entirely new level for her. One she hadn't even been aware existed until just now, in fact. Still, she needed to stay calm. He was frightened, and fear made people - primates - do and say all sorts of things. So with a deep breath to calm herself, she tried again.
"I was cleaning it," she answered simply, holding up her hands to show that she was now weapon-free. "Really, I'm not going to hurt you. Why would I? It's not like you've done anything..." Yet, some part of her mind whispered but she pointedly ignored it for the time being. She could handle this situation, she could. She just needed to stay calm, and be patient.
"The Hyperion is a safe place," she insisted a second later, brow furrowing at the comment about humans but ignoring it for the time being. "It's the safest place in the city, in fact. We help anyone who needs help. Which, I'm going to take a not-so-wild of a guess here and assume that includes you."
Moving to the counter, her steps slow and measured so as not to frighten him, she asked, "Would you like something to drink? Water? Tea?" Maybe a sedative to knock you out until I can figure out what in the hell is going on around here? She, of course, didn't add that last part - not even in a mumble - and wasn't really going to do it. Although it was tempting. Especially after the 'this place smells bad' comment of his, which she took a personal offense to. Cordelia may be a lot of things, but stinky was not one of them.
