"Sure, you aren't! Waving that weapon about! Oh, I feel really safe here! Might as well have thrown me in a pit of angry Gorillas!"
Was he shaking? He was. But only just a little. He was fairly certain that in a fair fight he could, well, run faster than her. Or climb faster. Overall, he could probably get away quicker than she could do him harm. But Cornelius really wasn't the fighting sort. He just didn't have it in him. Unless, of course, he was protecting something special. Like Zira and their baby.
Oh dear. What if something happens to her? And to the baby? I couldn't live with that! Cornelius fretted in his mind. He couldn't imagine a more horrible place to be at a time like this. Why, the world was ending where Zira was and he was in this nightmare land run by humans!
He whimpered again.
"I was told this was a safe place. But I can see that was a lie! I should never have trusted that human," he muttered. "Humans can't be trusted."
Not even Taylor was fully trustworthy. And he was the only human that Cornelius had been somewhat close to. In more than just the sense of proximity.
