Who: Barbara Gordon and You Where: Computer store parking lot When: Afternoon Rating: PG Status: incomplete and OPEN
Since that odd incident with the Calculator where she'd been saved by her legion of fanboys, Babs had tended to stray away from large electronics fairs and stores. It was safer simply ordering online. However, given that she was rebuilding she'd decided to go out and give shopping more of a personal touch. Her one laptop and one external were serving her fine for now, but she needed her network. A beta version had been simple enough to set up and its lack of information didn't bother her too much, if only because her Gotham files wouldn't do her much good here in 2005 Los Angeles. She was going to have to start piecing together clues about the city's citizens from old message board posts.
Babs had some idea of who was here from her own time. She'd seen Clark's name and thought about contacting him immediately, but two things stopped her. There was the possibility that he wouldn't know who she was, and then…well, to be perfectly honest, she was still completely pissed with him over the incident with the giant robot which was only sort of her fault and had not warranted his reaction. She could hold a grudge just like any other human being. She'd force herself over it, likely within the week, but for now she wanted to concentrate on rebuilding her network.
They were helpful at the store. Not with the finding things—she'd known exactly what they'd been looking for—but in carrying it all out at the end. There was quite a good deal of it. Boxes, and boxes, and boxes. Babs decided she'd worry about getting it all up to the Clocktower by herself later (maybe she would have to get over that grudge a bit faster and get in contact with Clark), but for now she was content to finish up paying for the equipment and then move out to the edge of parking lot where she sat and watched the clerks load everything into the back of her van.
"Not what I had at home, but it'll do," she said to herself. She settled back in her chair to wait.
