"You're right," Spike replied. "You shouldn't have left her at all. But she's grown up a lot. I think she handled it pretty well." Spike could remember when Dawn used to spend her time pitching fits over not being able to go The Bronze with some of her mates because Buffy didn't approve of the crowd or her going out and about while there were vampires running loose. But now Dawn was making it on her own. Not to mention she was the one who was responsible for him being alive. Or as alive as a vampire could be.
He slowed when she did. Brows rising, he shot Buffy an expectant sort of look. "What? Did you think that I was going to sit around here with morons like Angel and that Peter fellow while you were off in Europe?" He looked at her pointedly. "I saved the world already, Buffy. All I wanted to do was find you. Not get caught up in all of this." He gestured around them. His agenda had changed since then, but he'd be the last to admit it. Spike was all for pulling the heroics.
