Although Gabriel hadn’t gotten used to being without the pack, he had come to terms with where he was and what he couldn’t do. Like go home, for example. As time passed for him thoughts and dreams of Vivian were dissolving and turning to dust. He had believed that he loved her and that he desired her more than anything else in the world, but then came Elisabeth, and suddenly Gabriel wasn’t so sure of his feelings anymore. The love that he’d felt for the she-wolf had been transferred over to the mutant and he wasn’t ashamed to admit that. Vivian wasn’t here, after all. She was gone.
The black Harley was seen tearing out of its usual parking spot soon after she asked him to meet her. The engine rumbled and died only when it had taken him to where he needed to be and Gabriel swung his leg over the side to dismount. Finding Elisabeth in the gardens was done without any effort. He knew her scent by heart and followed it to where she stood waiting for him.
He didn’t suspect the truth hiding behind this meeting, not for a second. Gabriel wasn’t even sure if he could get her pregnant. As kids they’d always been told that it was impossible to have children with a human. Don’t date if you can’t mate. Of course that saying was permanently stuck in his head. It circled around the pack like a wildfire every time one of the members showed interest in somebody from the outside.
It wasn’t running through his mind when he approached her. It wasn’t there, for there wasn’t a reason for it to be.
