Eventually, Kathryn's heartrate began to slow as she and Spike sped off in the direction of the gas station, losing Sam completely soon enough. She didn't get off of the bike when he stopped it near one of the pumps, but rather watched him as he did and made his way towards the store. He seemed to be a bit stand-offish, not willing to look directly at her, and it confused her just a bit until the realization hit her. She looked like Buffy, of course, and it probably made him feel more than a little uncomfortable and awkward. If Kathryn hadn't just been saved by Spike, she would've been more inclined to play off of his discomfort. As it was, she just didn't have it in her at the moment.
"He wasn't a vampire," Kathryn quipped, making a small face at the words she'd been waiting to hear from him, even if she didn't like it. She turned the flask around in her hands, examining it closely until Spike returned.
"I thought this kind of stuff only happened in the movies. The stakes and garlic and holy water..." She chuckled a little, shaking her head. "Some city."
