“Actually, I’m really good at reading. Surprising, I know.” He kept his hand on her arm to keep her at ease and he gave off a small bark like laugh when Clark said something about him getting rich lately. “Yeah. I’m loaded. I just got a new place in Beverly Hills with three pools and a butler who follows me around and does whatever I ask him.” He wasn’t helping the situation any by having a smart mouth. It could only worsen it. But how bad could it get? It’s not like he thought Clark would do anything brash.
Throwing out his arms and opening his mouth, Bart watched Clark run off and growled through his teeth. “Hey! That was rude. No goodbyes?” He yelled after him. By the time he did Clark was out of sight and his words were lost. “Well then… Here you go. Be safe. Don’t play in dark alleys anymore.” He pulled a twenty out of his pocket and placed it in the woman’s hand. Her eyes widened as she accepted his offer. It was all that he needed to take off after his friend. If she had any brains in her head she would get out of there.
As an unseen force of color, he yanked up the vampire, pulled the stake from his red hoodie and stuck it through the thing’s chest, not giving Clark the chance to do it himself. “Still faster than you. Look what I did.”
