Obi-Wan merely nodded when she mentioned Anakin's determination to overcome his own personal darkness. It wasn't that he didn't believe it, it was just that, well, Obi-Wan felt helpless in this situation. He felt like he'd failed Anakin and that there was no way for him to repair that failure. The two were galaxies apart now. And Obi-Wan felt like this was an Anakin he didn't know.
He was grateful when the conversation changed to a different topic.
"A lighter note?"
Obi-Wan wasn't sure if that was a lighter note, but he would do his best to explain. And perhaps she could explain how the Jedi Order had changed since his time.
"The Council believed that materialistic attachments were a distraction from the Force. That in order for a Jedi to truly become one with the Force, he must give up all worldly belongings and possessions. Such things would only clutter his mind and spirit and prevent him from reaching his true potential. They had a similar philosophy on relationships. Which is why, except in certain circumstances, emotional relationships among the Jedi were looked down upon."
