He was glancing down, picking at something on his jerkin again when she said the name. Ares looked up and snorted. "The man with the girl's name? That amuses me." he drawled then returned his attention to his jerkin.
He caught the waitress' shoes out of the corner of his eye and before she could make another hasty retreat, his arm shot out and he leaned over catching her by the wrist. Snapping her back towards himself, she landed or rather flopped onto his lap and sat there rigidly. "Make it quick with her dinner or I'll fillet you and eat your insides." he half snarled, half whispered into her ear. Then he released her and cackled when she tripped over her own two feet in her haste to get away from him.
"You apparently missed a few things while you were gone. Shortly after I arrived, people started being overly honest." he said, rolling his eyes. "It amused me for awhile. You could get the mortals, or anyone for that matter to tell you pretty much anything if you knew how to word the questions right." he said as he reached for his own water glass. "Then there was a period where no one could talk. Absolute silence. It was like.." he waved his free hand around for a second. "Well it got boring after awhile. You know me." he said, and of course, it was all about him. He was just vain enough to believe that. "It pissed me off." he remarked then shrugged and took a sip of his water. He set the glass down and looked at his daughter.
"Screw the firm. I want you around." he said evenly. Then he smiled. A smile he only reserved for her. A genuine smile that actually reached his eyes. "What's daddy without his little girl?"
