And here came the questions. Or, at least, the first of them. Charlie had been expecting it and, truth be told, would likely have been a bit... hurt if he hadn't asked anything. At least by his inquiries she knew for a fact that he still cared for her.
Not that she really doubted that. Not really. Hell, he'd been there for her more in her life than anyone else ever had.
Her smile a light one, she arched a brow slightly. "I was taking care of some business for the Senior Partners. The only mortal who knew where I was is the CEO of Wolfram & Hart - Lindsey McDonald. As far as anyone else knew, I had just disappeared like half the people here seem to do after a while." The answer was an honest one, because the thought of lying to him never crossed her mind. She could only get into so many details, however. The contract she'd signed with the Senior Partners prevented her from telling every little secret that she was privy to.
She glanced up as the waitress brought her a glass of water, barely acknowledging the woman before looking back to Ares. "Like I said before, though," she added as she wrapped her hand around the glass, "I doubt I'm going anywhere else for a while. Things seem to be picking up around here enough that they're going to want me around."
