"Chocolate," Max said with a small grin. She'd never been the kid who had homemade snacks waiting for her at home after school, but she appreciated the appeal of fresh baked things just as much as the next person. "Sounds schway."
She decided that the invitation to sit down at the table was just innately there and had a seat. She would have offered to help, but cooking was not one of her many skills. Latchkey kids had the choice of learning to cook their own meals or learning the numbers of the best pizza places. She'd chosen the latter.
"Yeah, we deserve cake. And a break," she agreed. At least the kitchen hadn't been damaged in the 'excitement' of a few days past. "So, question that could take you forever to explain, but... where're you from?"
