Gabriel had already seen her coming and had already switched off the automatic security lockdown on the doors and keyed in the system to recognize two guests, one adult and one child, by the time that she'd entered the lobby. The second that the door closed behind her, Gabriel pulled the automatic lockdown back up before offering the pair of them a welcoming smile. He didn't even have to ask whether she was who she said.
It was hard not to recognize a face that he'd seen for years, especially since the only thing that his mother had ever really allowed any of them to watch other than the gospel channel were the old Nick at Night reruns. "You must be Samantha," Gabriel said. "I'm Gabriel."
