Lindsey remained silent as the elevator descended into the depths below the main floor of the building. Unlike the rest of the building, which was built to give a friendly and comfortable atmosphere to a business that was neither, the basement had no illusions and he welcomed it. Or maybe it was getting away from the crowds and the watchful eyes.
He stepped off the elevator after her, fingering the pass that would get him into the records under special security. In his distraction, he only caught the last part of her question, but it was enough that he knew what she meant. Lindsey turned back to her, a little less tension in his shoulders than there had been before.
