[Heidi, Nathan, Peter, Monty and Simon]
After making his sweep of the upper floor in their area, making certain those who had stayed inside their rooms were well and that they were assured all was well now, but before moving to the other part of the upper floor, Nathan returned to check on his family, but especially on Heidi. He had known her too long not to feel what she didn't – or would never – say or show, even if there had been times he hadn't been so adept at the execution of that gift. Though, of course, he hoped she was curled in bed between the boys with Peter still crashed on his bed, the four of them all asleep or nearly so, he didn't expect it.
He pushed the door openly quietly, peering around it, then let himself in entirely and closed the door. He was on his knees in front of her soon after, arms already sliding around her.
"C'mere," he muttered, pulling her close, one hand sliding into her hair as he brought their heads together, temple to temple.
