Peter shook his head, putting his hand up slightly to signal Nathan to wait. Cordelia and Nathan had raised their objections, giving Peter a chance to withhold his, and reconsider how these gods would accept the proposition he had in mind.
When things were quiet, he looked at the new form the representative had taken. "Accepting one's fate is not a desire for it. Mantis may have accepted that he was fated to die, and no longer fears it. But that cannot be considered his choice to die. If you give us the means to save him, let us present him the option. If after knowing he can survive, he still wishes to die, then free will reigns. But free will is dependent on the availability of options."
