It was close she could feel it. Lovingly she gazed down at the basket containing her eggs. Her precious little ones would be born soon. They were the only things that mattered to her. Gently she sat the basket down on the moist grass. Softly she brushed her fingers over the surface of the eggs, humming her aria in a gentle lullaby. Slowly she stood as her soft humming began to turn into a song.
Her mesmerizing voice filled the night, each note dancing on air. Her aria, her siren song, her lullaby calling out into the dark, acting as a beacon. Whatever shadows lurked in that darkness, her song was calling them, enthralling them to come to her. Still she sung even as her nose picked up the scent of death approaching once more. Her long black hair flowed and fluttered in the wind as she carefully danced around the basket.
Her voice also calling to her babies, encouraging them to break free. She looked up to spot several figures walking toward her with expressions of yearning. Diva continued to sing even as she reached out her arms toward them. As a lover would do, beautifully sculpted pale arms enticed them to come to her embrace. Her piercing blue eyes glowing with desire and yearning of her own. Though her needs were even more sinister than the would be predators approaching her.
Diva's song only stopped at the moment she had her prey within her clutches. Quicker than anyone would suspect, she torn into the vampires that had answered her call. Easily spilling their blood and splattering herself and the eggs with it. The vamps knew not what was happening as they one by one fell to the grass, turning to ash. Suddenly the eggs began to pulse and come to life, absorbing the blood. Diva smiled and began to sing anew, her song a joyous one as the sounds of two crying babies joined in.
Finally they were here. Her family, the ones who would always love her and the ones she would always love. The warmth of the smile she gave her newborn daughters, contrasted sharply against the blood she was covered in. The babies cries, turn to coos at hearing their mother's singing. Gracefully she swept both babies into her arms and cradled them to her body.
"My little Amaya and my little Kana," she said, bringing one baby and then the other up toward her face to nuzzle them gently. "Mommy won't let anything happen to you ever."
Anyone who dared to harm her children would not live to see another day. No one. Not a single person, would ever be allowed to ruin her happiness. Not after she had waited so long for this moment to arrive. Everyone else be damned. This was her slice of Heaven.
