It would be lying to say that some part of Nathan didn't enjoy witnessing this, not because he wanted Peter to be unhappy or feel cornered – no, not that at all. There was just something very familial and right about the whole thing. It was nice to have some derivation of 'family' not be in the same sentence as 'insane' for once.
But he was still concerned, so while Cordelia was outright cheerful, Nathan's expression was less so, because deep down these avoidances and disappearing acts bothered him far too much.
"We just wanna talk, Pete," he said. "And the coffee pot is on the line. Think of the coffee pot." The last statement, meant to be teasing, was softened by a smile. Despite this, Nathan was counting down the seconds to Peter's next disappearance.
