Mantis definitely wasn't going to get an argument from Nathan on that count. He loved Peter without question, but he also couldn't deny that Peter's confrontational tendencies with 'bad guys' were bad ideas. Of course, it hadn't stopped Nathan from also doing such things himself, but then they weren't arguing that fact either.
Before he could mull over that much, the scene changed and Nathan tensed further. It wasn't real, but the desire to stop it was very much there, to reach out and hurt Exar Kun before he could hurt Luke. The counter to Mantis' dispassionate air was the live fire of anger in Nathan as he stared, emotions that had once been put beneath layers of control and courtroom or political calm, but often bubbled far closer to the surface in this world. He looked away briefly, however, at the revelation that the threat had been to himself, not Peter or the others.
"Then he's very wrong," he said, not looking at the image for the moment, but at Mantis. "I'm not powerful or important to the big picture here. The only thing I am, and I know it, is something that can be used against Peter, just like the fastest way to get to me is to go after Peter or another person I care about. If that's his idea of interesting..."
And then his gaze moved back to the image and he let out a hiss of anger, the rest of what he had meant to say lost. He couldn't help but react, image or not, and stepped forward toward it.
