The change in their surroundings had Nathan inspecting them all over again, at first relieved by the switch from the disturbing to the curious, but that faded quickly – as did the quiet feeling of amusement at being flicked by Mantis – when the sight before him morphed to one of Luke clearly in danger, not as a child but as the adult he was now. Nathan had never seen Exar Kun in person, only dealt with him over the message board when he had kidnapped Luke, and to now have the image in mind was, admittedly, intimidating.
And then that image, enough to make Nathan seethe in its own right, was joined by the chilling revelation that his family was in danger. Not just the 'everyday' danger of this world that was combated in most cases by the protection of the hotel or the measures in place to keep them safe if they exited it, but a specific danger. A threat.
He turned to face Mantis, expression tight, body tense. "My family?" He certainly believed Mantis would protect not only his own family, but all the individuals in the hotel, but Nathan had never dealt well with unknowns. "What happened?"
