"It's more the things that come out at night that aren't exactly safe," Sarah said, and took her statement about knowing at face value. It wasn't all that strange to think Trance might have some type of ability that alerted her to those she knew in some way. "And we'll take the bus, we won't have to make many stops from this route." She nodded toward the bus stop at the closet corner and then started to move in that direction.
"You seemed like you recognized Los Angeles," she said, glancing at Trance as they walked, "but if you have, this isn't exactly the Los Angeles most people know, if they know it at all. It's June of 2005 here, and the things at night are stuff like vampires and demons. The people who show up here come from entirely different realities or timelines, real where they're from but sometimes from books or movies in other places."
Trance had taken everything so well thus far that Sarah felt she could be straightforward about it all.
