"Right." Lindsey took another bite from the pizza, taking the time to form his next words just right. "And what has he done since he became human that's even remotely championlike?" He dropped the paper plate on the bench on the other side of him, away from Cordelia. He didn't trust her worth a damn.
"I was waiting and no one came. It was disappointing because I actually thought there was going to be a challenge," he shot back. "Right. Did you ever think making the necessary sacrifice of killing in cold blood once in a while might help you? You're neck deep in enemies. It might thin the herd." And his competition. He didn't see Cordelia falling for that aspect but it was worth throwing out there.
Lindsey leaned forward, elbows resting on his knees. Truthfully, no matter how low he had sunk, no matter how corrupt his morals, he hated being in any part responsible for the death or injury of a child. He shrugged, trying to seem nonchalant. "I didn't need her dead to stay on top," he replied. "She just happened to be an unforseen casulty in war. We both know how that goes."
