Elaine sat on the bed again, crossing her legs and smiled at Charlie. “Yeah, I can’t see your faces or the clothes you are wearing, but your souls and minds could be an open book if I chose to pry. It’s part of what I can do,” she commented, knowing that sounded mad but it was better than oh, by the way, God’s my grandfather alternative explanation. She wasn’t lying, either. That was always a plus in Elaine’s book. “I don’t pry without permission. Peter was a special case, he sounded… he was so sad I didn’t need to know he needed help. So, mm, I peeked. Don’t tell him, please,” she stared blankly at Nathan when she said that.
