Obi-Wan stood, quiet. There was a pause before his answer, and it felt as though it lasted much longer than it actually did. Anakin was asking him the same questions that he had asked himself everyday since Mustafar. Every day since Anakin betrayed the Jedi and turned to the Dark Side.
Was he sorry? What was he sorry for? For causing irreparable harm to his Padawan? For not killing him? For leaving him to die (or live) on that molten planet? For letting the Force choose his Padawan's destiny?
Yes, these questions had plagued Obi-Wan for a long time. And had he come up with an answer? He had. Or, at least, he thought he had. It wasn't until he found himself standing there in front of Anakin that he knew for sure that he had found an answer to both of their pain and suffering.
"I'm sorry that I didn't have the strength to disobey my Master's wishes."
Obi-Wan took a deep breath. His expression was unwavering. On this point he was most confident.
"The Council was right. You should never have been trained as a Jedi."
