Nathan found he couldn't answer Cordelia when she spoke to him, other than to shake his head. He knew she was using the combination of teasing and sincerity he'd become familiar with and distantly he appreciated it, but he couldn't summon more than a negatory head shake after what had just happened. He could hear Angela leaving and this time he let her go. It wasn't as though she'd get very far given the security system. It also wasn't as though he cared right now.
It was only after she was far from the room that he finally spoke to Cordelia, resting his head against the wall as he looked down at his hand. He was so tired of this.
"How much did you hear?" he asked quietly. Not that he cared if Cordelia knew the truth about the Petrelli family, because he trusted her and was even beginning to think of her somewhat like a sister even when not rescuing her from hospitals, but there was one person who he had tried to shield from all that had gone on then, and even now he wanted to protect Peter from the knowledge of what their mother had done.
