Gabriel blinked a few times as he reached out to take the card. It wasn't that he didn't understand her reasoning at all, but thinking about how Nathan and Peter would react when he arrived back at the hotel and handed them a card and then attempted to explain that they hadn't came back with him because Heidi had had to take the boys to the hospital was enough to make him not want to go back at all.
"They'll understand, I'm sure," Gabriel said, taking the card and tucking it in his shirt pocket. "That is, if they don't freak out on me for letting you go off on your own in this city before I get the chance to really explain. Listen, if you're at the hospital long enough for it to get dark before you're done, stay there. It's safer inside at night than it is out on the streets by quite a large margin."
Gabriel really just hoped that she was smart enough to listen to him. Or he was going to have an even harder time explaining things to Peter and Nathan.
"Oh," Gabriel said softly, biting his lower lip. "And it's June 2005. Just so you know."
