"I would appreciate the directions." Heidi reached into the front pocket of the light jacket, she had donned aginst the rain, intent on entering the information, but the screen was blank. She frowned, certain that she had charged it fully the night before. It couldn't be broken! She'd only had it two weeks, without a hint of malfunction. "It must have hit the wheel." She explained, mostly to herself, and tucked it away again.
It was a generous gesture, and also one that no sensible person would have accepted. "I appreciate the offer, but I'm afraid I'll have to decline. It's unusual to find a someone so willing to offer help, but if I put my children's health into the hands of a stranger, on the word of another stranger--even a kind one who is unwittingly Bondish--I wouldn't be much of a mother." She said, the confession was straightfoward and unflinching, but without suspicion of any motive on his part other than good samaritanism.
