Booth snorted behind the paper as she ordered him the apple pie. "We're going to be skipping lunch after this," he said as he glanced over the edge of the paper before disappearing behind it again. There was, however, a small grin on his face as he surveyed the national news. "Or I am at least. At this point."
The waitress returned with the two mugs of coffee, setting them before their respective owners and left them again. Booth finally folded up the paper and dropped it on the seat beside him, shoving the rest to the side to get at the mug of hot coffee. "No one's ever told me that before. From the bottom of my humble heart, thanks."
The first sip of coffee went down easily and he savored the taste. What last inklings of a hangover there were began to fade as the caffeine worked its magic. "This coffee might as well be world gorumet the way it's hitting the spot." He took another sip, holding the mug between his hands. "This is a nice little spot. Kind of out of place in a big city."
